There are many different approaches to the concept of self care. It looks different for everyone. The term’s definition can sound like this: “Self care is the practice of taking action to preserve or improve one's own health.“ For an artist, that can mean to step away from one’s usual practice and try something new. The Selfcare-Scrap-Droid is the result of exactly that. He personifies a creative practice outside of the box, outside of the comfort zone, outside of the canvas’ confinement, while at the same time giving new propulsion to the artist’s creativity and new life to the garbage leftovers of everyday life.

About the Artist

Theresa Kohlbeck Jakobsen (they/them) is a German creative living and working in Berlin. They produce mixed media artworks under the name Pinkudreyma.welt as a tool of recovery and coping with anxiety.
